ITVITV soap Emmerdale was the most watched programme of Wednesday at more than 7 million tune in while new BBC Two documentary series Inside John Lewis, which follows the posh department store’s attempts at beating the recession, got off to a decent start with nearly 3 million viewers.

bbcThe BBC has ordered a second season of its World War Two based daytime drama Land Girls which aired last year on BBC One in a daytime slot and was later repeated on Sunday evenings. The re-commissioning of Land Girls is a further sign of commitment to daytime drama by the BBC following its decision to order second seasons of Moving On and Missing too. The Pauline Quirke drama Missing begins its second season on BBC One next week.
