Another week and another hopeful is booted off The X-Factor as their dreams of winning come to an end. Last week saw Edward and John Grimes, dubbed Jedward by the press, voted off after ending up in the bottom two along with Olly Murs. Perhaps unsurprisingly the judges voted to send the duo home apart from Louis Walsh, their mentor, who voted to save his act. Edward and John’s survival in the competition had become a source of some controversy amongst fans of The X-Factor who were unhappy they survived in previous weeks at the expense of other acts – most notably Lucie Jones. This week marked the end of the judges having the final say on who goes each week with contestants now voted off The X-Factor based solely on the viewer’s votes meaning the contestant with the lowest vote is booted off the competition. Stacey Solomon, Joe McElderry, Danyl Johnson and Olly Murs pulled enough votes to go through to next week’s semi-finals. This means that Lloyd Daniels received the least number of votes and is now out of the competition. Lloyd has been in danger of being voted off the series before by ending up in the bottom two in previous weeks but has so far managed to survive until now.
