ATVA new bill being considered for Florida could mean that television shows or films with gay characters within them that are shot in the state could miss out on vital tax credits because they are not deemed “family friendly”. The bill wants to remove benefits for productions could does not meet “traditional family values” and some feel the word means that gay characters will be included on a list of things which will result if programmes missing out on tax credits if they are featured within them.

While some working on the bill have stated they do not want to be drawn into “word games” over what exactly “traditional family values” mean Republican Stephen Precourt has told a newspaper that shows with gay characters in were “not the kind of thing I’d say we want to invest public dollars in”. If the bill were passed its another example of the supposedly democratic beacon of the world shunning part of its popular because of their sexuality. It’s just another example of the hypocrisy of some Americans and their supposedly “Christian” beliefs and attitudes towards the gay/lesbian community.

Christians who hate gays aren't Christians at all. The Bible says to "Love Thy Neighbour" and "Turn the other cheek". It also says god created Man in his image so if someone is gay its in the image of god - it what god wants them to be.

Some may have forgotten that when Dade County rescinded an ordinance outlawing discrimination of gay people back in the heyday of Anita Bryant, there was a national boycott of Florida tourism and Florida orange juice, and it hurt. The state's image was blackened, and not until Dade Country reinstated the ordinance did it begin to recover. But Florida is still a vicious state towards gay people, despite some gay-friendly tourist destinations. They are targeted for hostile legislation on adoption and child custody, among other things. If this passes, it will hurt Florida's reputation ever more. And there would be even more sympathy for a boycott now.
