It had been mooted that Harry Hill was to depart for blue Skies - or Sky One to be exact. However today ITV has announced the network has agreed a two year deal with Harry and Avalon Television for two new series of the BAFTA award-winning TV Burp in 2010 and 2011, and two new series of You’ve Been Framed.
The deal with Harry Hill and Avalon also includes a commitment to develop new programme formats. Harry Hill said on the news - and we fear he wasn't for once trying to be funny - “If you're a light entertainer there's really only one place to be on a Saturday night, and that's ITV.”
The new agreement will include two eight-episode runs of Harry Hill’s TV Burp produced by Avalon in 2010 and 2011 – in addition to special compilations – and two new series of You’ve Been Framed, produced by ITV Studios. It also includes the option of extending the deal for two further series of TV Burp in 2011 and 2012. Peter Fincham, ITV Director of Television added: “Harry is one of the outstanding comedians and television entertainers of his generation. I’m delighted that ITV1 will continue to be the home of the multi-award winning TV Burp and I very much look forward to working with Harry and Avalon on new projects for the channel.”
