The Sun is reporting that BBC Worldwide and Nintendo have signed a £10 million contract to develop a new Doctor Who game for the Wii and DS Consoles. The game is still reportedly in its early stages but will feature new Who actor Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and will feature popular enemies such as the Daleks and Cybermen. “This has been in the pipeline for years. We're delighted to have finally nailed down a deal. We went with Nintendo as they have huge appeal for families and Doctor Who is very much a family brand. The Wii console is key for us as it's something families play together." – BBC Insider quoted in The Sun However, the Sun quotes David Tennant as saying the game has been stuck in development for some time because of the way the game developers wanted the Doctor to act which was, according to the actor, not quite how the Doctor would normally act. ‘It’s difficult to nail as the Doctor doesn’t blow things up. He’s not Batman who goes around smacking people in the head’ the paper quotes Tennant as saying. The Suns claims the developers who to have the game developed and released in shops for 2010. It won’t be the first Doctor Who related game; in the 1990’s the BBC released a PC computer game entitled Destiny of the Doctors in which the player had to try all seven incarnations of the Doctor from his mortal enemy, the Master. The game featured many popular foes from the past such as Daleks, Autons, Silurians, Cybermen, Sontarans, Ice Warriors and Yeti. The game featured new material recorded by actors Tom Baker, Nicholas Courtney, Anthony Ainley, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.
