Last night saw a slightly new arrangement of the sad theme of EastEnders being used as the residents of Albert Square mourned the loss of Bradley Branning. The sad theme is better known by the title of “Julia’s Theme”, so named after the soaps co-creator Julia Smith, and has been used over the years to mark sad or poignant occasions. Here we look at those times when “Julia’s Theme” has been used and when controversially it hasn’t.

Tonight will mark the first live episode of EastEnders in the soaps 25 years on-air. Tonight millions of viewers will discover just which Albert Square resident killed Archie Mitchell on Christmas Day. Was it Roxy? Was it Ian? Was it Tracy the barmaid? You'll have to wait until tonight's live episode to find out! EastEnders isn't the first soap to go live so we've re-uploaded a feature from last year which looks at other soaps and drama's that have also aired live episodes in recent years.

Two Eye Spy’s in one! We are spoiling you! While yesterday’s Extra was for the return of teen-drama Gossip Girl today’s edition is a little closer to home and a little bit more special. As you are all probably aware BBC One soap EastEnders is 25 years old this month and on Friday evening to celebrate they’ll be a special LIVE episode in which the killer of Archie Mitchell will be revealed. To mark the 25thanniversary the BBC has commissioned a special EastEnders ident for BBC One and we’ve got it here.

This month BBC One soap EastEnders celebrates its 25th anniversary and to celebrate this landmark we take a look at one of the soaps creators, Julia Smith. Together with Tony Holland she created EastEnders and later Eldorado, which despite being remembered these days for all its flaws wasn’t a bad soap at all just beset with problems that tainted its first few months. However, these two soaps aren’t Smith’s only contribution to the world of television having worked on shows such as Doctor Who and Angels. So in this Icon piece we look at her career from directing to producing and creating.

In February BBC One soap EastEnders celebrates its 25th anniversary and to mark the occasion we'll have a range of features. To begin with we have re-uploaded our ATV Icon feature on actress Wendy Richard who played matriach Pauline Fowler in the soap for 21 years. The feature was originally published in the aftermath of Wendy's death last year.

On Thursday evening Glynis Barber made her first appearance in BBC One soap EastEnders playing mum to characters Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell, but as our look back at her career reveals the actress is no stranger to the world of soap having regular roles in Night and Day and Emmerdale.
