Politics and the Media: Liberal Democrats Interview Our Media and Politics reporter Shaun Linden recently interviewed representatives from the three main political parties about their plans for British media. As a General Election draws nearer the parties plans for the BBC, and other media outlets, have come under more scrutiny especially as the Conservatives recently stated their intention not only to scrap the BBC Trust but also to put a halt to ITV’s plans for local news – instead they intend to create a ‘local news channel’ for the whole of the UK. This week Shameless returns to Channel Four for its seventh season on Tuesday and amongst the new cast members is Pauline McLynn who plays a new love interest for Frank Gallagher.
