James Callis to join FlashForward

James Callis is to join the cast of ABC’s struggling new series FlashForward for several episodes. The actor will be familiar to genre fans for his role as troubled scientist Gaius Baltar in the “re-imaged” series of Battlestar Galactica. Callis appeared in all four seasons of the critically acclaimed series as well as the original 2003 mini-series. Callis’ role in Flashforward was revealed by the show’s co-runner Jessika Borsiczky who told Sci Fi Wire she cast the actor because of his role in Galactica.

Borsiczky didn’t reveal what role Callis would be playing in the forthcoming episodes of Flashforward but stated he’ll be appearing in several episodes towards the end of the series first season. Flashforward returns to ABC in March for the remainder of its episodes which will see the first episodes of the new show-runners who took over following David Goyers’ decision to step-down from day-to-day involvement with Flashforward to concentrate on other projects.
