The rumours are nothing new as far as Doctor Who is concerned - David Tennant was often reported to be quitting the series. Now actress Karen Gillan has come out to deny them outright.

"Matt will be sticking around. I think those rumours were made up." - Karen Gillan in The Daily Telegraph

Filming on this years Christmas Special of Doctor Who, which will guest-star Katherine Jenkins and Michael Gambon, is currently underway in Cardiff. Once filming on the special is complete production will commence on Gillan and Smith’s second season in the role. Although little is known about what the second season will consist of its likely that actress Alex Kingston will reprise her role of River Song once more.

If they decide to bring back River Song in the 6th season they should only do it ONCE! Too much Alex Kingston and the character has already started to lose some of her mystery and so by extension - Her allure! When/if Smith and/or Gillan leave the series they should bring in a new actress to play a younger River Song and have they're relationship develope then as The Doctor mentors her into becoming the brilliant woman she is today, and two thousand years ago... and a few thousand years from now... Bloody time travellers!

Personally, I think they should try an episode or two with young song, a version that dosen't know all the doctor's dirty little secrets, possibly even one where it's her first time meeting him.
